KazIOR

The Head and Neck Tumor Center of Kazakh Oncology Institute has been operating since 1961. The Center provides highly specialized medical and consultative care for patients with head and neck tumors. The team consists of highly qualified specialists who have completed internships both domestically and internationally.
Our Mission: to reduce cancer mortality through the implementation of state policies focused on prevention, early diagnosis, effective treatment, and rehabilitation of oncology patients.

Main Directions and Services

  • Surgical treatment of malignant and benign tumors of the head and neck (larynx, pharynx, tongue, oropharynx, tonsils, nose and paranasal sinuses, salivary glands, scalp and facial skin, thyroid and parathyroid glands, soft tissues of the neck) with simultaneous reconstructive and plastic replacement of postoperative defects
  • Radiological treatment using IMRT/IGRT technologies
  • Chemotherapy, including targeted immunotherapy
  • Diagnostics: endoscopic examinations, ultrasound (US), CT/MRI, molecular-genetic testing (HPV, EGFR mutations, etc.)
  • Early diagnosis and prevention — check-ups, screenings, participation in public health campaigns
  • Research activities aimed at studying and implementing new methods for diagnosing and treating head and neck tumors
  • Specialist training — internships, master classes, implementation of new technologies
  • Interdisciplinary approach — collaboration with ENT oncologists, maxillofacial surgeons, endocrinologists, radiologists, and dentists

Achievements and Implemented New Technologies

  • Performing reconstructive surgeries using microvascular anastomoses, as well as reconstructive procedures involving myocutaneous flaps on vascular pedicles — these are high-tech methods for treating malignant head and neck tumors. Reconstructive and plastic surgeries carried out at the Head and Neck Tumor Center aim to restore organ function, achieve optimal aesthetic outcomes with minimal risk of graft rejection, increase life expectancy, and improve quality of life.
  • Implementation of new diagnostic and treatment planning methods: molecular-genetic testing, PCR assays, analysis of HPV, EGFR mutations, and others.
  • Campaigns for early detection and prevention, including open days and public awareness initiatives.
