The Academic Council is an elected collegial body.
When considering issues assigned by the Charter and/or the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the exclusive competence of the Society’s governing bodies, the decisions made on these issues are recommendatory.
Term of Office: 3 years
In its activities, the Academic Council is guided by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Model Rules for the Activities of the Academic Council of a Higher Education Institution, and the Charter of the Society.
The Academic Council is headed by the Chairman of the Board – the Rector of the Society.
The personal composition of the Academic Council is approved by order of the Chairman of the Board – the Rector of the Society.
Within its competence, the Academic Council performs the following functions:
-Consideration of issues and adoption of decisions on scientific, educational, methodological, and educational activities;
-Consideration of the long-term development plan for the educational-laboratory and scientific-laboratory base;
-Consideration of the assignment of academic titles to the teaching and scientific staff;
-Consideration and approval of internal regulations;
-Decisions on all issues related to the organization of the educational process;
-Consideration of issues related to the implementation of the University’s Strategic Development Plan;
-Consideration of key issues and decisions regarding the social development of the University;
-Summarizing the University’s performance for the past academic year;
-Periodic review of reports on the educational, scientific-research, and extracurricular work of the Society;
-Consideration of reports from other structural units of the Society;
-Review of higher and postgraduate educational programs in accordance with state compulsory educational standards for approval by the Society’s Board;
-Consideration of other issues related to the Society’s activities that require a collegial decision.
The Academic Council meets once a month according to the approved work plan.
Extraordinary meetings are held if necessary.
To organize the preparation of issues for discussion, monitor the implementation of decisions, summarize experience, and develop proposals to improve the Council’s work, a scientific secretary is appointed from among its members by the order of the Chairman of the Board – Rector of the Society for a term of 3 years.
The scientific secretary is responsible for timely and high-quality preparation of materials for Academic Council meetings and for maintaining the Council’s documentation.
