KazIOR

The Department of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation, and Intensive Care at the Kazakh Oncology Institute is one of the oldest specialized units in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was established in 1961 as a Laboratory of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation. Throughout its history, the department has been led by prominent scientists and practicing physicians who made significant contributions to the development of national anesthesiology and intensive care. Since 2025, the department has been headed by Sabit Nurkhanovich Madaliev, a member of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC) and the Kazakh Society of Anaesthesiologists-Resuscitators.

Diagnostic Capabilities:
● Ultrasound protocols (FAST, BLUE, volume assessment);
● Laboratory tests to evaluate blood gas composition, coagulation system, and biochemical parameters;
● Monitoring of hemodynamics, respiratory function, and oxygen saturation;
● Instrumental methods (ultrasound, ECG, X-ray, CT, and MRI in collaboration with other departments).
These capabilities enable timely detection of complications and allow for personalized therapy. Main Areas of Activity:

● Anesthesiology support for oncological surgeries and perioperative patient management

● Intensive care for oncology patients with severe complications, multi-organ failure, and respiratory or circulatory disorders

● Consultative support to other institute departments, including outpatient care

Treatment Methods

The Department of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation, and Intensive Care is equipped with modern technologies:

  • Expert-class mechanical ventilators, including Hamilton G5 and G6
  • Equipment for non-invasive ventilation and respiratory function monitoring
  • Systems for renal replacement therapy (hemofiltration, hemodialysis, hemodiafiltration)
  • Devices for extracorporeal detoxification (plasmapheresis, hemoperfusion)
  • Modern anesthesia and respiratory equipment (Leon, Mindray)
  • Functional Eleganza Linet beds and equipment for complication prevention

In clinical practice, respiratory support techniques, infusion therapy with individualized volume selection, prolonged epidural analgesia, advanced approaches for perioperative blood pressure control and pain management are applied.

Scientific, Practical, and International Activities

The Department actively participates in international congresses and conferences, including EUROANESTHESIA, national oncology congresses, and anesthesiology meetings. Its physicians regularly undergo internships at leading clinics in Belarus, Russia, Belgium, Austria, and other countries. In 2024, the department’s staff published an article in the British Journal of Anaesthesia, demonstrating its high scientific potential.
The department serves as a platform for masterclasses and educational seminars with international experts. Contemporary international publications are regularly translated and discussed, contributing to the development of a scientific and clinical school for young specialists.
The Department of Anesthesiology, Resuscitation, and Intensive Care of KazIOR combines long-standing traditions, modern technologies, and active international collaboration. For patients, it ensures high-quality and safe anesthesiology and intensive care, and for international partners, it serves as a reliable center for knowledge exchange and joint projects in the field of onco-anesthesiology and intensive therapy.
